Hey guys i need some help. I just had something strange happen to my Computer. i was doing the simple task of moving some files off the desktop to a folder and all of a sudden my HDD started making a clicking noise for about 5 seconds. My question is whether or not this is an early sign of the HDD dying and if i should replace it.

HDD:
Seagate Desktop HDD ST2000DM001 2TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Definitely make sure your drive is backed up and start saving to buy a replacement drive. If the clicking was only for a few seconds, you may be OK for the time being. The "click of death" that john35 refers to above is a permanent thing that doesn't go away.

Wd or hgst (who are now owned by wd) are usually solid picks.

I'd avoid Seagate or Toshiba.
