Looking for a new video card

Hey,

I currently have a Radeon 7970 but it's on its way out and I think I'm out of the warranty period. I want to but a new card but not sure which one. Which would be the best gaming card for around 200$?

Thanks.

Hate to break it to you, but your 7970 is significantly faster than R9 370. The 380X is about on par with the 7970.

Oh I didn't know the 7970 was that price. I got it when my 6970 broke and they gave me the 7970 as a replacement since it was still on warranty. What would be a good replacement for it then, even if it's over my budget.

As Darren has said, the R9 380x is about the same as the 7970 as far as performance. What games do you play? That might help to determine what card you actually need.

Pretty much everything. Is the R9 390 that much of an upgrade over the 380x and would it be worth it to pay more?

I think there is some confusion. The person before was referring to an R7 380. An R9 380 is a pretty high end card, or so I think considering how powerful an R9 280 is

380 are rebrands of 280 which are rebrands of 7970 ;)

The 380 is a rebrand of the 285 which is tweaked a little bit from the architecture of the 280. The 280X is a rebadge of the 7970. A 280X/7970 is a little faster than a 380. The 380X is pretty much on par with a 280X/7970.

I would vouch for making the jump to a 390 if you can afford it or save up for it.
