Would an AMD motherboard (for AMD processor) support Nvidia SLI?

Hi there, I have an AMD motherboard (M5A97 R2.0) that supports crossfire. Would it support Nvidia SLI also? Thanks.

SLI isn't supported through PCIe 2.0 4x slots, which is what the secondary physical 16x slot operates at on that board.

I wouldn't crossfire on that setup either as performance degrades to a large degree without sufficient PCIE bandwidth.
