Networked printer issue

I have a few different desktops and laptops, I have a printer connected via usb to a recently upgraded windows 10 machine, I also have an old basic desktop that is still running windows xp, I can no longer access the printer on the windows 10 pc through the xp computer. All the sharing is enabled on the printer end, i go to readd the printer to my xp pc and its asking for username and password which doesnt exist. I read that xp and 10 might not work together with workgroups, how else can i add this networked printer to my xp pc?

Is it a wireless printer? If so, you can just change the connection to wireless.

That will invite other problems, unless you know what you are doing. I have a new Cannon PIXMA Wireless printer which I can not use, because it shows that it is "Offline" and no matter what I do, I can not get it "On Line" and use it. When one of the cartridges has to be replaced, it goes in the garbage. (It works with an USB Cord, and that is how I use it now. But I bought it for its wireless feature.)

Not sure why you are having such a problem with that but I have 2 wireless printers that are networked so any pc can print to them without any pc being on. I would say you have a bad printer or possibly just not setup on the network correctly. So don't go saying that setting up a wireless printer invites other issues when it don't.

Please elaborate.

Like I said, most of the time the printer will not answer a request to print, and a window will appear stating that the printer is off-line. I do not switch it off, and it is on 24/7.
I have the disk for it, re-installed it several times, with no avail. When you search for it, it will not respond, and thus is for all practical purposes, not even switched on. ( although the required lights, a blue wireless and a green power led, are on.)
I do not understand why the printer will not work, I have followed all the installation instructions. ( There are only a few, mainly "switch the printer on and make sure there is WiFi available".)
The sad part is that at one time it started to work, although I do not know how I did it, but we got a power failure for a moment, and it went back to the off-line (non working) status where it presently remains.
Any one has any suggestions what to do?
