Need advice involving freesync/gsync and 4k

Hey guys. I really need advice.

Facts:
-I have the Samsung U28D590D 4k monitor which does NOT have freesync.
-I'm only running a temporary gpu right now (HD7850, lol)
-I have a budget that allows me to get either RX480 in crossfire or a single GTX1070.
-Freesync 4k monitors are affordable, gsync 4k monitors are not.

Question:
-Do I sell my 4k and buy a 4k freesync monitor and buy (2x)RX480?
OR
-Do I keep my 4k and buy a single GTX1070 and hope that the tearing during gaming from the lack of freesync/gsync doesn't get to me? Is the tearing that bad?

Advice is GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks.

If it were me, I'd keep the current 4K monitor, and grab a single GTX1070 and be done with it.

G-Sync is good, but not necessary - its just the latest, greatest, flavor of the month and like all new and exciting things it carries a stupid premium.

I use an Asus 28" 4K (non-G-sync) with a GTX1080 and its pretty flawless. I can't justify the G-Sync premium.

I went out for breakfast with my friend and we discussed this issue and were leaning toward this option too. Now that you said what you did, that confirms it. Thanks a ton, Laquer Head! 1070 here we come!

Sweet dude!! nice score!

Are you in Alberta??

Manitoba actually. Good point in mentioning that I was talking Canadian prices, lol. I didn't pay $608US he he. Yeah so the GTX 1070 SC was $600 at the same store and that makes it only $8 to upgrade to the FTW. Worth it for sure.
