New Video Card Suggestions Please

I'm currently running a Nvidia Geforce GTX 670 that's approx. 5 years old, and I'm ready for a significant upgrade. I've been out of the computer hardware loop for a year or so, so I'm not sure what my current options are.

It will be used for gaming (World of Warcraft on ultra settings), and possibly more demanding games down the road. I also stream and watch the occasional online movie.

My price range is $400 - $600, and I would like it to be roughly the same size as my 670 so I know it will fit.

Suggestions would be appreciated.

The GTX 1070 would be an amazing upgrade for you, and that Corsair PSU will run it fine. Also, when a time comes that you are ready to upgrade your rig or build a new one, the 1070 can go right into the new rig!!!

Is there a particular brand GTX 1070 that is recommended?

I like MSI personally, I've had nothing but great experience with many MSI cards over the years.

EVGA is also top notch.. as is ASUS..

Any of those 3 brands and you really can't go wrong. Each brand has many options too, different coolers, some with RGB lighting..etc

Thank you, guys. I think I've decided on the EVGA GTX 1070, however I'm a bit confused on which version I should go with.

- SC Gaming
- Gaming ACX
- Black Edition
- FTW
- FTW Gaming
- Founders Edition

Is there one model which is recommended over the others or will I be good to go with any of them and just shop for the best price?

They will have varying degrees of overclock built in, possible variations in the cooler

Just don't grab a Founder Edition, the cooling isn't ideal in most cases, stick to a 2 fan cooled card!

Pick the one that fits your budget

FTW version is pretty good if you don't feel like messing with overclocking yourself and has a higher base clock (The frequency at which it will not go under. Even when Nvidia GPU Boost is off) than SC or Founders Edition cards.

Since you guys have been awesome in helping this noob choose the right video card, I have one more question.

My GTX 1070 is arriving today. My plan was to take it to the Geek Squad to install. However they said I wouldn't get my computer back for 5-7 days. I look at this as good news. It will push me into doing what I should be able to do anyways, and that's install it myself. So... is it as simple as just swapping out cards and going to the Nvidia site to download the proper drivers? Hopefully the PS connectors are the same. My GTX 670 has 2x 4 pin (I think) connectors.

Thanks
