I would have used a sledgehammer...just to make sure those pesky iPhones stay dead.

Honestly I'm surprised no one stopped him, he didn't look dangerous at all.

Oh, also, put your backpack on the right way and you won't have to keep adjusting it every 10 seconds.

Because they don't care, everything is insured so no loss at all. And the mall staff took care of him, well restrained him, no need to get violent or handled the way US cops handle people for nothing like that...

He'll get sued, the store will get paid for his destruction end of story.

I doubt they would utilize insurance for that, it's probably self insured for small things like that. I mean the employees didn't even yell at him to stop or make any attempt. I don't mean anything physical, but I'd be yelling at him aggressively to stop and get out. I mean he looks like a hipster that couldn't throw a punch at all.

Some did yell at him, but to what end? It's useless, just wait for the mall security and let them handle him. There are three videos and this is just one. On the two others you see them handling him, one shouting at him to calm down and stay put. He then gets pulled into the security parts of the mall so we don't know what happened in there :D

I don't know about France, but I know here if you approached him and he ended up assaulting you, it's another charge. I guess if you work for Apple there's really no reason to risk anything, but still I'd hate to just sit by and watch some guy destroy property.

Typical sheriff mentality where everyone has to cop others.

Apple store won't suffer any losses, it's just materials.

He wasn't threatening anyone so no need to escalate this. And he wasn't destroying people's property, just Apple's. In fact, while some don't condone this action (of course) they support his move against Apple has they don't follow laws and basically treat customers as profit.

Sitting there while crime is going on is bad in itself, unless there is danger to you, such as the person having a gun or weapon.

It's like when people watch a bully fight someone and just stand there watching.

You're actually saying physical attacks on someone and physical attacks on products / materials are the same ... No there is a no need to intervene and you'll only escalate the situation. The guy was harmless to others, so no need to intervene as a civilian. And no watching a bully beat someone is far from being the same.

For crimes on people, it is a law that you should help, not helping is called "non assisting a person in danger " . By helping you can call authorities, that's the least you can do.

And lastly, the guy was using a petanque ball, which is made of steel so yes, that can be a dangerous weapon. I'm pretty sure he would have been shot dead in the US, you know, they would have "feared for their lives".
