Some of onenote files stopped opening and popped up error message: This file does not appear to be a OneNote file. I applied internal recovery tool from Microsoft - Open&Repair, but it didn't help. Any suggestions, how to recover onenote files after computer restore?

Have you tried contacting microsoft about this? They have forums for this sort of stuff. It's either one note is corrupted or the actual file is corrupted.

I don't use the 2013 version. Try this...check under "options/save & backup/backup" and see if the "automatically backup my notebook at the following time interval " box is checked. If it is checked then OneNote made a backup to whatever location is listed in the "save" option. Copy backed up notebooks of your choice to the "default notebook location", also listed in the "save" option.

I have some OneNote files on my pc, but your issue is quite popular among office applications.

Usually you may solve such issue via internal recovery feature from Microsoft or to call to its office in your Country, tech support will help you.

But other cases might be solved only with the help of OneNote Restore Toolbox or any like software, they intended for seriously damaged files, you may check it via demo https://www.restoretools.com/onenoterestore.html
