How on earth did Microsoft fail so badly in mobile?

They have invested in brick and mortar stores similar to the apple stores, but there is just one windows HP phone in some corner in a store filled with laptops and desktops. Given how much they are investing in keeping those stores running and how few people in there that are actually buying...

How on earth did Microsoft fail so badly in mobile?

I used to use a dopod 838 pro running windows mobile 5.0 in 2006 I agree iphone is definitely way behind what is available on android, but getting instant security updates and having the one actually commit to and provide security updates immediately was a BIG BIG selling point for me. Pixel 2...

How on earth did Microsoft fail so badly in mobile?

They may not be the market leaders, possibly are in terms of profitability, but definitely not based on sheer number of devices using their operating system, Android is the winner there. But Apple are in my opinions the pioneers, the game changers, I think it was the iPhone that marked the...

How on earth did Microsoft fail so badly in mobile?

maybe the craziest thing microsoft ever did was the $150 million dollar cash injection in Apple back in 1997 when apple were facing bankruptcy, had they potentially let Apple die off, they may have been the market leader in smartphones today. Nobody could have foretold what would happen.

How on earth did Microsoft fail so badly in mobile?

I don’t know anything about the tech but I just wonder instead of expecting developers to reinvent for their platform, whether they could have redesigned their mobile operating system to make it easy for developers to make their apps also available on a Microsoft mobile platform. Just seems like...

How on earth did Microsoft fail so badly in mobile?

I remember when blackberry phones first came out with their monochrome screens, then later the palm treo 650 and I used to use windows mobile. Yes iPhone completely changed the game but Apple did not go on to gain some monopolistic share of the mobile space like windows did with the pc. Steve...

Sydney Australia A lot of the housing closer to the city, workers cottages are very small But it’s a change of situation, the houses where the poor people used to live on small blocks, are now more expensive, and many of the places where the more wealthy used to live on larger blocks were...

    What are you currently playing?

I play it using the ps4 controller, yes I would love a proper steeting wheel and a racing chair and brake pedal and..... but I aint got no space for any of that. Such a big damn country and everything crowded into a few small cities and all old workers type cottages like you would find in the UK.

    Pixel 2/XL 2

Not a fan of that camera cutout on the screen but at least when it renders video it excludes that area and looks ok I’m happy with my iPhone 7 Plus for now, but if they release airpods with Bluetooth 5.0 , then I will definitely upgrade next year.

    Rant: Internet in the Boonies

That is a rip off I’m jealous of you people with your gigabit speeds, our stupid government went with a cheap option and max speed available is 100mbs but because of the crappy cheap second rate technology they used, you can’t even get anywhere close to that due to congestion

    Any site archive Youtube videos?

I would have to say it is definitely impossible, that would require massive infrastructure costing billions of dollars and I don't think there would've any legal way for them to monetise it I don't think such a site would exist. Some videos which have been removed, it is common if they are...

Nintendo Switch: Did you get one??

I really liked the N64, but I would never buy a Nintendo console after that. I think eventually the Nintendo console will go the way of sega, and eventually they will stop selling consoles.

Recommend a SEALED phone case that doesn't totally suck, please!

Otterbox defender just ruins the whole feel and use of the phone in my opinion Unless you are in the military or working at heights on a construction site, I think it is overkill for everyday needs, yet a few people in my office use them.

What's the first game you ever bought for PC?

I remember having a Star Wars game, back when voice in games was probably newish. I remember my brother all the time saying "I can't shake em, I can't shake em" while he was playing I'm not sure what the first game I bought was, most of the early games I played were for an Apple iie Perhaps one...

    Epson Expression or Workforce

I did look at one of those printers before I bought my latest brother printer, every time I have to buy a replacement cartridge and see the ridiculous price, I wonder if I would have been better off buying one of those printers where you can refill the ink from a bottle, the problem is a lot of...
