I don't expect them to interleave as that is disabled. I expect it to see 10 gigs free for stuff. Anyway I do a lot of file and video shuffling so the extra memory will come in handy.

8 gigs are ample for most PC usage. What did you on your PC? If you are hard core gaming or extensive photo/cad manipulating jobs then you may need more memory.

What are the specs of your PC? At 8 years of age something will not be adequate anymore.
