I have cable, and my connection is always good.. But i have heard mixed reviews about DSL, my cousin's is terrible (they are switching to cable this week) and others tell me its better than cable... i dont know what to think

Im gonna be buying a laptop for work, very very soon... I've been looking pretty hard at Alienware, not sure what model yet though. My only other thought is, do you think it would be worth trying to build one, or just probably frustrating because laptop hardware is more difficult to get.
