    Windows Vista CD installation

A friend of mine asked me if I can reformat her computer. Its a bit of an older machine, but good enough to handle Vista. She has a legal copy of Windows Vista. The computer she has has two optical drives, CD-RW and DVD-ROM. However, the DVD-ROM is faulty and does read the discs all the...

    Windows Xp Activation loop

There is no way around it bro. You gotta start fresh. I activated a legit OEM copy of XP Home and fell into the same predicament as you. All you can really do is go into safe mode as administrator and then back up all your files.

I took a quick trip down to Office Depot and picked up a Microsoft Digital Media 3000 Keyboard, which has USB connection. I plugged it it and I could tell right away from seeing the Num Lock LED come on that it was working. I was able to get into safe mode. I was also able to press F12 and...

Win XP Activated saying Not Activated

It doesnt give me that option. Once the PC loads up, I guess to the log in screen and tell me Windows needs to be activated. I click Yes, and it opens a window and says Windows is Activated. So I don't get the option to activate over the phone.

If hard drive is SATA why is DVD drive IDE?

Well if you can't connect it then thats not that bad you just made a mistake. My cousin bought a new computer, got all the parts, and they said for $10 they will connect all the components and install windows. Insted of me wasting my time, I said "f it" and pay the $10 bucks and get them...

    Is this Dell worth it?

Sometimes Dell is worth it, you just have to look out for those killer deals. However, if you don't get any of those killer deals then its not worth getting. I know with my Toshiba laptop, I saved $450 @ Best Buy, during a back to school sale. My laptop is almost as good as my rig. It cost...

What's so bad about Windows Vista?

Personally, I think the flaw with Vista is that it is like a step backwards for us. The system requirements are so high, and unless you spend an arm and a leg on a computer then its like using you computer from back in the day.

    upgrading a dell dimension 4400

Just get what you could really afford. At least try to get a 512MB stick or RAM in there. If you can get a 2 x 512MB then go for it but if not then just add the 512MB next to what ever you have right now and then when you can get another 512MB stick in there do so.

Quick question here. Will Windows XP SPK-2 Installer recognize a SATA II Hard Drive, or will there be a need to install third party SATA drivers? If so is there a way to load them up without a floppy?
