I found the problem, my old burning software left some things in the registry when i uninstalled, once i removed those entries my dvd drive appeared.

No i wasn't in safe mode. I tried to rollback the driver but it said i had nothing to roll back to. Every other device operates fine.

First reinstall the router software, if that doesn't solve it, than upgrade the firmware from the linksys website.

To totally reboot the router you need to unplug the modem and router, wait 2 minutes and then plug in the modem first and then the router. I don't know if this will solve your problem, but every other month or so i have to do that to my netowork.

Did you format?

Try setting up a static ip or disabling your xp firewall.

Do you have a static ip? or do you get it automatically from your router? If you set up a static ip you may have set up the DNS server IP's incorrectly.
