Thanks guys. I was able to get the Asus Xonar DS and a Creative MKII headset on sale today for like $80 total, which is exactly what i was hoping for. Luckily Newegg always makes me feel like if i made a bad decision, i can always backtrack with an RMA. We shall see how it goes.

Scratch that. I was not using the 1.3 win 7 beta version of Audacity, therefore, it did not have full compatibility. I discovered this at the expense of most of my project, but at least it can continue without hitches. Guess that will teach me to watch for the release version from now on :-)

Tried in all compatibility setups and each encountered the same problem. It seems to only have this problem then i try to set the sample rates myself. The predefined sets work, although none of them are satisfactory.

I am using Audacity to record some material, however, whenever i try to use a custom set equalizer rate, it gets about half way completed and the program stops working. I am doing all 4 tracks at the same time with a length of about 5 minutes. Also, i'm on Win 7 64-bit. Thanks

Why not just get an AMD Phenom II 955, save a ton on a good motherboard, and call it a day? It's hands down the best bang for your buck out there, and gives great performance. Unless you're really THAT set on an Intel.

It looks to me like you're using Windows 7, in which case that blue thing you see is something called the Snap feature. If you take your window to the side like that, and let go, it will automatically maximize it to half the screen size. The same goes for the opposite side as well. I'm sure...
