What does a budget build look like these days?

Dota is incredibly CPU reliant as are all source games so keep that in mind. There are two things you should keep in mind for this. Source 2 will be fully implemented by Sept so all benchmarks you read now are COMPLETELY ignore-able as it will be on an entirely different engine. Source 2 is...

    Budget build with used components

The first thing that I notice is the Hard Drive, 150GB is incredibly small, after installing Windows and a few small programs you're looking at 100gb or so free, and raw video footage is incredibly large so my first priority would be to get a 1-2tbish hard drive, those can be grabbed for...

    Multi-OS file access

So I have a 1.5TB HDD with Windows 7 on it and a 250GB SSD with Windows 8 on it, and I need to know how I can allow access of files from the Windows 7 user to the Windows 8 user. I can boot both so it's not a problem of one being unavailable but when I try to access my Windows 7 account's Music...

Need cheapest PC build to run Crysis 3 on max 30fps

I like to think about computers like this. Say you were building a person, each component of the person is important and needs to be balanced correctly. You could get an AMAZING BRAIN, but if his bones are weak it's gonna make his life a lot harder right? Say you gave him muscles that could...

    Good Over ear headphones

If you're on a budget I would HIGHLY suggest Monoprice 8323s http://tinyurl.com/maj45sc - Amazon Link I've had them for about 2 weeks? now and I'm very happy with them. Very high quality and haven't found anything that sounded out of place or muddy. Removable audio cable which is a HUGE plus...

    MSI Customer Service?

Well, I called them just a few minutes ago and I'm happy to say they were great about it! Since I can't have any downtime because of school they said all I have to do is order the same model, they'll put the money on hold, and once I send back my current one they'll waive the fee...

    Problem with new pc build

Is the display cable plugged in to the graphics card? You may have plugged it in to the motherboard instead. If I understand correctly the motherboard display ports would be connected to the integrated graphics correct?

    MSI Customer Service?

I use my computer for schooling so I can't wait several weeks for it to get shipped to them, repaired, and sent back. I'd rather just have it sent to them and get either a replacement board or some sort of credit. With the amount of problems I've had I feel that wouldn't be ridiculous to expect.

    MSI Customer Service?

So I've had trouble with my motherboard since just a bit after I got it, and I wanted to know if anyone has had any experiences with MSI customer service? I'm hoping for a replacement motherboard or something like that, I'd rather not get it repaired. Does anyone know what I can expect...

It's currently on sale for ~75 dollars so I thought I'd take advantage of it.

    Source of Problem

If you could, could you explain what exactly about the psu is bad? I've never really been able to understand the deciding factor in what makes a PSU bad. I understand that most PSUs are basically rebranded PSUs ordered from manufacturers, Seasonic being the most highly held manufacturer correct?

    Source of Problem

I didn't say I assumed it wasn't bad, I just said it wasn't terrible, as in it has worked just fine. And I know not to completely rely on the PSU calculator, but that doesn't mean it's gonna give me COMPLETELY ridiculous numbers. Back on topic, would having an underpowered PSU cause the...

    Source of Problem

Ha, that's what you'd think, this thing has been in several computers for over 4 years so it isn't terrible, I've honestly never had a problem before, and nothing bad has ever happened when using it, so that's why I thought it might not be the problem. The xTreme psu calculator says I should...

    Source of Problem

Sorry for the late reply, I just didn't have much time yesterday. I'll include a picture but here's the basic info. It's a 400w psu I've tried finding information on this model but no luck in finding anything. So, I'm gonna be ordering a new psu today or tomorrow, do you think I should...

    Source of Problem

So I just got a 7870 a couple days ago and have been having some problems I want to find the source of. So, as seen in the pictures attached to this post at random times (This has happened twice now) The screen will go into a weird array of colors which will not stop until I reset the computer...

    Computer for sister

My little sister (age 10) wants me to put a computer in her room for flash games and such and I have two choices. 1.) P4 at I think 1.4ghz -GeForce2 MX200 2.) Celeron at I believe 2.2ghz -No Dedicated GPU and no AGP or Pci-e lanes They'll both have the same amount of RAM, I think...

    GPU Possible Upgrade

I was just going by the Newegg psu calculator which told me about 900w, I know it isn't necessarily exact but I wouldn't want to buy something under-powered.

    GPU Possible Upgrade

I don't have the money yet, waiting for some eBay sales to go through etc. I've seen some 580s for about ~230 but I also have to get a new PSU, and I'm thinking of getting one around 1000W so I can do crossfire in the future too, so about ~$110 for that new. I don't really want to get the 580...
