Error message virus, very annoying { HJT Log }

Hey, it seems to mostly happen when I open two or three folders in a row, and it happens with any folder so it's not something inside the folders im opening.

The error message comes up saying "Hey Daz! Your computer is affected by Trojans and needs to be scanned, click below to scan now" Well, similar to that. Whether i click Yes or Cancel it takes me to their fake virus scan website which i have to close and when i go back to the folder half the time it hasn't opened and when i try again the same thing happens!

I am also getting a lot of Windows Explorer error messages. It doesn't just do it on folders btw, sometimes it does it on the web browser.

I've scanned with Ad-aware, Spybot S&D, AVG, Registry Mechanic, EnditAll... All to no avail.


Usually, i'm pretty good at getting rid of viruses, but i've lost hope on curing this by myself... So i'm handing over my Hijack This log to you guys

Hope you can help! Oh also any programs that might remove it that i haven't already used would also be of help to try.

Download and Run ComboFix
If you already have Combofix, please delete this copy and download it again as it's being updated regularly.

* Download this file from one of the three below listed places :

http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe

http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe
* Then double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
* When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end

I solved it by finding good, recommended malware and anti virus software and eventually managed to get it killed off

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is a good program for annoyances like the one I had incase anyones in the same boat.

If I were you I would run the combofix anyways. Most likely the infection is still there and present.

I have experience with HJT logs though i have not yet been promoted to helper, i am having all of my actions in this section being overlooked by Punk.

Cut it out G25, you're no better than he is. He is probably more involved in training than you are. A Hijackthis log doesn't kill anyone nor hurts anyone, in fact the infection might not be gone. Combofix is a malware cleaner, not a scanner. If you a complete scan, use DSS.

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.

• Close all applications and windows.

g25racer, posts like this only demonstrate how much you have to learn before you can safely and effectively deal with these problems. While I am not at all surprised that you cannot see it, the HijackThis log clearly shows the infection.

Some of the responses I've seen recently have been so bad that I would laugh out loud if it didn't pose such serious risks to the malware victims involved. I hope it doesn't require a victims PC to be needlessly destroyed before some of you will realise the importance of learning to answer these logs properly before posting.
