Factory restore laptop with broken screen?

I have a HP G60 laptop that has a broken screen. I have been using it with an external monitor. I would like to Restore it to "factory" condition. When I start HP recovery it goes to the built in monitor. Is there any way to get HP recovery to work on an external monitor. The notebook is running Windows Vista,

You could possible look in the laptop's CMOS settings. Usually there's an option whether to use the internal or external monitor or both.
