improper frequency combination

I put this desktop computer together by gathering parts from various sources. what I know about it is it has a Intel Celeron 2.4Ghz CPU. 992 megabytes of RAM, Two maxtor 80 gig hard drives, runs windows XP prof version with service pack 2. The unit worked fine for 3 years then I began getting the error message "during the last boot up your system hung up for improper frequency combination etc etc etc." To my knowledge nothing has been changed so I can''t understand why the problem occurs after 3 years of good service. My questions are what information do i need and how do I obtain it? many of the parts came from unknown sources but I did get a CD for main board drivers. BIOS lists CPU frequency multiple as 18X and 133/33.

did some googling for "system hung up for improper frequency combination" and found a couple of pages referring to cpu heating issues. maybe your heatsink/fan has gone kapput.
