Hey guys, i just recently bought myself a new card ;) haha after a while of thought.. but between that i also picked up a new monitor too! :D So straight after i got my new toy, i went ahead and toyed with it. I am already on 3.2ghz with the classic Q6600, but i was also trying to get maximum potential with the card. I keep getting hanged and was considering drop back to 3.0 or even lower (default) and crank the card? haha im not sure BUT i was wandering if i would need to as will Black Ops be more GPU based? I am also running 1920x1080

Cheers guys!

Overclocking your GPU won't cause your CPU overclock to become unstable. If it was hanging when you were overclocking your GPU, drop the overclock back a bit because it will be the video card causeing instability, not your already tried and tested CPU OC.

And like all games, Black Ops will be more GPU than CPU intensive. The GPU is the most important part of a gaming setup, as in you will see greater performance gain with a half decent video card than you will with a new CPU (obviously with exceptions when it comes to old, unicore processors paired with a decent GPU ;))

+42. i'd say most first person shooters tend to see a better fps increase by overclocking/upgrading the gpu vs overclocking/upgrading the cpu.

as for the overclocking, it is most likely the gpu causing the hanging/freezing. if you have a stable overclock with the cpu (meaning you can run prime95 for a while) then just leave it.

what graphics card are you running right now?

Im running a 5770 hehe. Im guessing i rushed my oc, since i havent oc in a while >.< so i should start from scratch and oc in increments of 5-10? Im not sure what i should be doing really haha
