I just got a new laptop with windows 7, and i got a new game called The Witcher. I put it on the laptop and tried playing, it told me i needed to play as admin for the first time. I am the admin and i am right clicking and doing "open as admin" and it still does not work. How do it make it work, i did not just get a game i will never play....

Is your account an administrator or a limited account? When you said you clicked "open as admin", I assume you mean that you right clicked on the shortcut and clicked "run as administrator", correct? You can try going to the shortcut properties and change it to run in Windows XP compatibility mode.

If you haven't already, try turning off UAC.

To do so, go to control panel > User Accounts and there is an option to turn User Account Control on or off. Click that, turn it off and restart

By the looks of your screenshot you are on Windows 7? If so, works fine for me.

Are you definitely on an admin account? And have you already installed the game, or is this you trying to install it?

If you have already installed it, uninstall it and then reinstall, this time running the setup.exe as admin. Assuming you are installing this from disc, and not through steam or something similar, you will probably have to go into the disc files itself to run the setup.exe as administrator

+1

And if possible, install it on another partition. Some games have problems when they're installed in "C:\Program Files\..." or "C:\Program Files (x86)\...". It's got to do with UAC and the fact that it restricts certain actions that the game has to be able to do (writing new files or modifying existing files).

I have The Witcher Enhanced Edition (via Steam) installed on another partition and the only issue I had was fixed by turning off the "Overlay" feature in Steam for this particular game. I'm running Windows 7 x64 and I'm logged in as the admin.
