Two broken Xbox 360s

I have 2 broken Xbox 360s. They each have different problems, a Premium which supposedly has some soldering issue, and an Elite which has a DVD drive issue.

I am not 100% sure on both of these problems. Both Consoles are not in Warranty.

Would it be possible to swap the drive out of the Premium and use it in the Elite?

and is there anything else I could do to help me solve these probelms ?
 
Send it back to MS, it will cost $100 and they will send you a working unit. I am on my 3rd 360 trust me i know this process all to well ha

I am in the UK... so it costs about £60. But I don't want to have to do that. I want to do it as cheaply as possible and if I can do it myself its even better :)
 
I am 99% sure you can switch out dvd drives you just need to change the firmwire. You can try google and see if you can find out how to do it.

I don't see why you couldn't. While Microsoft did use different DVD drives in all their xbox 360s, the connection and shape and size of the drives were all the same.

Plus if they're both "broken" no harm in trying, am I right?

There are a few different versions of the firmware for the DVD drives. I'm not sure how you do it, but if you could check to see if the firmware matches I would think you you could swap them.
