Got this from another site.
Hey folks! While a lot of players have been enjoying the game online, we realize there's a few of you on the forums stuck with some issues. I've been trying to reply to threads where I can, but those responses often get buried... so I've decided to make a central thread! Below is a list of issues I've seen come up on the forums and suggestions that have helped others. Hopefully the suggestions below will fix your issue while we work on the patches.
I should also mention anytime I talk about GCEngine.ini, that's located in "%HOMEPATH%\Documents\My Games\HOMEFRONT\GCGame\Config". If a step requires editing it and you're not familiar with editing .ini files, please skip that step and wait for a patch.
Issue: The game won't load (at all)
Likely Cause: Your video card has poor compatability with Dx11.
Probable Solution: In Steam: Right-click on HomeFront. Click Properties. Click "Set Launch Options". Enter "-d3d9" (no quotes). Try again.
Issue: No Audio
Cause: Speakers set to anything other than Stereo or 5.1 sound
Solution: This has been addressed in the 48MB patch on March 17th. If you still have an issue, try switching to Stereo. If still an issue, PM me.
Issue: Audio Stutters / Out of Sync
Likely Cause: Game is not able to stream and decompress sound quick enough.
Possible Solutions:
1. Load up Windows' "Resource Monitor" and see if there's anything utilizing your hard disks (if so close those apps).
2. Benchmark your Windows hard disk using the "Windows Experience Index" if it seems low, your drivers can setup incorrectly.
3. Try switching your windows sound to Stereo.
4. Edit your GCEngine.ini. Find [XAudio2.XAudio2Device]. Raise or lower MaxChannels. MinCompressedDurationGame should be set to 60. If it's still causing issues, try setting it to 5.
Issue: Poor Framerate
Possible Solutions:
1. Try lowering your graphics settings.
2. Follow the directions for solution #1 to add "-d3d9" to your command-line parameters. This will force DirectX9 mode.
3. Disable Vertical Sync in the graphics settings. Note your driver may be set to override the setting in the game, so double-check that.
4. Disable FPS smoothing.
5. Type the following command into the console: "stat unit". The numbers will tell you if your rendering is slow, or your CPU cannot keep up with the game logic.
6. If your "Frametime" from "stat unit" is more than 5ms higher than the maximum of your Game or Render times, you can try to edit your GCEngine.ini manually.
i. In GCEngine.ini, look for [SystemSettings]. Ensure your UseVSync and UseFPSSmoothing are false.
ii. Change to OneFrameThreadLag=TRUE. This will ensure your GPU always has something to do.
Issue: Cannot Connect to MP Servers
Probable Cause: Incorrectly configured firewall
Possible Solution: Try connection your computer directly to the internet (temporarily) in order to test if it is indeed your firewall settings causing the issue.
