hey guys, i just got $50 to spend, and i was wondering what i should get. I have a couple games in mind: cod 1,2,united offense, 4, garry's mod+counter strike source. anyone have any ideas? just throw them in
good FPS?

Are you looking for something a little older (most of those titles are at least 5 or 6 years old)? What are the specs of your system?
Of the ones you've listed, I'd say COD 4 and CS:S are probably your best bets. If you are looking for something a little more relaxed, TF2 is a pretty solid choice (but I'll admit I haven't played recently and the past few updates look kinda weird).
In terms of newer stuff, you could try out Crysis 2 (havent played myself but it got decent reviews). Battlefield Bad Company 2 isn't brand new but its pretty fun and has strong multiplayer.
These are pretty standard responses. You could search the hundreds of threads that are similar to this. And giving us more details as to what type of game you're looking for would help. I assumed you're looking for good multiplayer but the recommendations would be a bit different if youre into single player...

i have minecraft. very fun, until you die lol. Let me be a little more specific. i'm really looking for a good warfare game. i have mw2 and black ops, but ya, for pc black ops sucked. im not looking for stuff like crysis 2, i really dont like those games, especially bulletstorm. Most likely, ill get cod4, and on the top of my list, CS:S + garry's mod package on steam. i have cs 1.6, didnt really like it cuz all of the modded servers and there are alot of pros on there (im not that pro at that game yet, but ive only had it for a month) my specs? ive got a single core at 2.2Ghz (at the moment, waiting for my quad) ati radeon 4670 1gb, and 2 gigs of ram. not alot of space left on harddrive, bout 40 gigs left, but i have another hard drive that i can put in if needed. need more info? let me know.

Well if your computer is up to the task run Crysis 2.
Another game series that i enjoyed a lot was the bioshock (both of them).
For some old school crap your pants FPS try Fear.... Old school or not is still scares me a lot every time i play it

Get a something like a 2.4GHz C2D while you wait, that's what I have and it runs the game easy @Craig; the original F.E.A.R. isn't very scary at all...a bit here and there but not a lot. IDK about the newer ones though. Just gruesome

yes, definitely. If you do get BF2, if you like war simulators you can get Project Reality too, which is a mod for it and free, so you will essentially get 2 in 1. Even if you just play BF2, it is still heavily populated and it is so much fun

hold on, what about BF:2142? i heard it's ok, cuz it's newer and has future weapons, which is one thing i really dont like, but i played both demos. anyone know of a package thing for both of them for $30?

If you didn't like the demo (and the entire premise for that matter) of BF 2142, I would not recommend buying it...
I haven't heard of that type of a package but I wouldn't be surprised. But you can get them cheaper buying individually from amazon. 26 total.
Bad company 2 is only 18.

Battlefield 2 is awesome. 2142 is pretty much Battlefield 2 with different weapons, plus a new leveling system.
This reminds me. I now have to get Battlefield 2, and play that only too. Since I will be able to actually run that. And I'll be able to have jets
Karma, you have to buy the games new, otherwise the CD keys might be used...big nono.
