360 5.1 Headphones

You guys have any good headsets to suggest? Looking for a good pair of 5.1 surround speakers headphones for some good audio while gaming!

I prefer NOT to that the ones that cover your entire ear. After a while, it makes my ears way too uncomfortable and hot. :-(

Im not quite sure what you mean by the ones that don't cover your ear. Can you give us an example? Whats your price range?

I think the general consensus is though that for the money, youre better off just getting a nice pair of stereo headphones. My friend got really into headphones for gaming once and he said that the "5.1" headphones were, for the most part, junk/not really worth it.

I don't know, they will work with anything that has a 3.5mm plug. You can also get converters if needed. The CX400 are fantastic and quite sturdy. My first pair were the CX300, they survived for a long time despite all the abuse they went through. The CX400 also lasted a long time.

Something that fits into your ears and not covers them. Something like the $20 skull candy's.

I don't think they make "5.1" earbuds. Isn't the whole idea based on multiple speakers within the headphones.

In terms of cheap earbuds, I hear JBuds make pretty good headphones. I haven't owned a pair but I borrowed a friends J2s and they seemed decent considering they were under $20... I had JVC Marshmallows for a year or show and they held up pretty good. Idk, around the $20 mark, theres nothing really too fancy or "high quality" in terms of sound.

Yep... no such thing as 5.1 headphones ;)

Two speakers are two speakers. A sub is a sub. 5.1 means 5 speakers and a sub. Head phones are two speakers.

Sorry for that dumb explanation lol, but yeah you can only get 2.0 with head phones. It would be quite hard to jam 5 speakers and a sub inside two ear buds lol. That being said I love my skull candy titaniums. They were about $50 and they sound awesome. Super clear rull range and a solid bass response.

You're both kind of right. They make headphones (with multiple drivers within the ear cups) that simulate 5.1 sound but they arent true 5.1 since they must "simulate" a center speaker as well as have a "subwoofer" in each ear. I've heard these units are not very good and tend to be expensive since they have the fancy 5.1 claim attached to them.

Besides, who needs 5.1 when you have binaural audio ;)
