for those of you who have the Motorola razr V3t phone?

i've got a few questions on it.
1. it says it doesnt have the headphone jacks but has a enhanced mini-USB connector supports compatible stereo headsets. what does that mean?

2.when i want to make one of my mp3 songs as the ringtone, how does that work? does only allow you to play the first few seconds of the song or something?

3.can i choose my alarm clock to be one of my mp3 songs?

thanks! thats all i can think of right now.

1. it means that there isnt a normal or 3.5mm earphone jack to use for headphones. instead u use headphones with a mini-usb head to it.

2. for my razr v3i, it keeps playing until the person hangs up. lol.

3. u want an alarm clock noise to be one of your mp3 songs? regularly.. the alarm clock is an annoying noise, unless u changed it to an actual song. is that wat u mean?

i have the v3i, i did not know that u could make an mp3 song a ringtone...is that possible?

yes u can, and since u live in california and instead of the uk er some other part i can help u out if u need. i modded the shit outta my unlocked razr v3i.

now if u want a custom ringtone, answer me this.
did u buy ur v3i unlocked or did u get it from a provider? currently in the u.s. the only provider with the razr v3I, is cingular, the other providers just switch the names around like t mobile, v3t. rofl... but yea.

if u bought it with cingular branding, then it did not come with the required software motorola phone tools (MPT)

if u bought it unlocked, then.. yea u guessed it, it came with the whole package.

get back on me with that and i can help u out. :D

hmmm...well lets see. i have tmobile but in the phone it says that its cingular so i guess that would mean that its cingular branding. does urs have itunes? cause mine does and theres no freakin way itll let put an mp3 as a ring tone ecxept if i purchase it through tmobile...trust me I TRIED :o .

a new question: when i went to tmobile to check out what it came with, it doesn't say it comes with the usb to connect to the computer to put in the mp3s, am i supposed to buy that separately or something? and also, it comes with an earbud headset, is that what i can use to listen to the songs? thanks

o, and ya, i mean, can i set one of my mp3s as my alarm clock ringer.

for everyone to kno: yes u can set an mp3 file as an alarm clock ringer, but u have to set it to the right directory. either that or u have to set some minor adjustments to your phone.

u kno how american companies are, they want your money so they exclude all the extras that come with the real package. lol. i am pretty sure you can find the right mini-usb to usb connector around your house somewhere. i like the razr because it has the mini-usb port, i got a couple of those cables around so i got extras just in case something happens.
-the earbud headset, is it only one ear? if it is, its for talkin not listening to music. the music one has 2 ear buds. lol

lb562high: yes mines does have itunes. and no u cannot set an Itunes mp3 as your ringtone. im guessing do have the mini-usb required then since u were able to transfer songs to your itunes. but do u also have this motorola software called Motorola Phone Tools. quite a handy piece of software, it easily backs up and restores your phonebook, upload ringtones, download ringtones off your phone and a bunch more.

get back on me with that and i can help both of u.

i just went to cingular.com and checked out their v3i with itunes and it says it does come with the usb cable. Are all usb's for phones the same? if so, i could just borrow one of my friends usb.

and the v3t comes with an earbud headset, is that what i can use to listen to the songs?

thanks again

if it comes with the usb cable then ok. and no not all phones have the same usb cable. this is the end u want to look for for all razr phones:

and the heatset that u need to listen to music, well that are made for listening to music are:

if u want mp3's as ringtones, then u either need to have MPT or a friend with the same provider and bluetooh, and they can send their songs to u.

wait, if anyone is confused, i want he RAZR v3t for tmobile... not cingular...

thats the headset it comes with? hmm i guess its not that bad.

wait, i didn't get what you just wrote there, please clarify

ok.. lol.

IF you want mp3's to be set either as your RINGTONE or ALARM CLOCK, you must have either MPT (Motorola phone tools [a piece of software]) or have a friend with a bluetooth capable phone with the song you want to send it to you via bluetooth.

now from my past experiences, Cingular and Tmobile work ok with eachother via bluetooth. usually providers block out other providers for their bluetooh options and stuff, *AHEM VERIZON AHEM*

so u can have a friend with cingular send to u if u have cingular, or cingular-tmobile or tmobile-tmobile. anything with cingular and tmobile will work. do u get it now? if u dont, its reli something u have to try to find out. lol.

BTW: the V3i is the same as the V3t. except for the v3i has itunes and the v3t has DAP (digital audio player) to play their music. and some other minor S/M adjustments. which u dont have to start questioning nor start wondering about unless u are planning to start modding your phone.

wait, why would you need a friend with the song to send it to you to be able to set it as a ringtone or alarm via bluetooth? won't it be the same thing as just putting the song in your phone?

hmmm... but i'm assuming since the phone my dad has can play the songs that hes ordered from tomobile can be set as the alarm, im guessing the v3t will be able to too. i'm just not doing it to my current phone because the part they they play for you for the song i like sucks...

y do u need a friend? in puttin that scenario in incase you DONT have the program in the first place. thats y i put EITHER. theres 2 methods. get it now? it has nothing to do with setting it as a ringtone, its all about actually gettin it on your phone to start with. all clear now?

for the phones that has itunes, setting the mp3 to a ringtone/alarm clock will be different and require more steps because they belong in different directories.

for phones that have DAP, it will be easier to set it as a ringtone/alarm clock because the DAP takes the songs in the Sounds directory, which is where all your mp3's and ringtones should be at.

o, ok i get it now thanks. hmmm i always thought that when you wanted to put the mp3 file into your phone, you would just connect the usb to your phone and computer and just drag and drop....
ayyy this is so complicated.... i just wanted a phone that has an mp3 so i don't have to bring my ipod everywhere i go!!!

lol not necessarily, u need MPT to upload songs/mp3 files onto ur phone. and it gets a lot more complicated onward when u want to do more things to your phone, requires a bit of hacking. lol. but enough of that. anymore questions about phones, just ask me. :D

yo. moddingman1a. just wanted to tell you that youre a freaking huge help! and thanks!

so anyways, where can i get MPT, and is it free?

yea np dude, and MPT is a licensed Motorola software, ill pm you to give u more information on that.

Whats the diff between V3i (or t) and V3m?

Basically, the V3i is the original name for the V3i. Tmobile started carryin it and changed the model name to a T (Tmobile ===> V3T) get it? lol.
the difference between the two is that, they have different S/W and different media players. V3i uses iTunes while V3t uses DAP to play their music. there are other differences also, but i havent looked into it so much to notice everything. (i have both DAP and Itunes on my phone, LOL.)

as for the v3m, lets just call it the v3's older brother. first came the v3, then v3c and then the final clone (at the moment being) the v3m. v3m's are carried by Verizon, which is very restricted. it uses a CDMA technology, unlike the rest of the SIM card phones which uses GSM.

a V3i and V3t are both GSM phones, they use sim cards. a V3m does not, it is a CDMA phone.

as for hacking, since most of the world uses SIM card capable phones, GSM phones seem to be a lot more popular, so when it comes to hacking, most of the programs that are made are all based for GSM. so CDMA phones are kind of harder to hack, plus Verizon puts sooooooo many restrictions on their phones, so if you were to start hacking, you would only gain with many losses of features.

final conclusion: V3i/V3T > v3m
