It appears to me to be another faulty cd/dvd drive just as my original Xbox had. Though they fixed those by using the Samsung drives instead of the Thompsons. My 360 appears to be having the same problem, along with other problems. Its prone to locking up, overheating, and just now claims it cannot read a brand new disc which has not one speckle of dust on it! Microsoft really needs to fully test this crap before they send it on the market. Im tired of them using crappy hardware. Granted the graphics are great, but the hardware is far from reliable.

My 360 is fine....
I leave it on, hours on end.
even if i dont play it, i leave the room for awhile, its fine.

I am however going to buy a cooler for it.

Maybe you should take care of it...or buy warranty...warranty is always a good thing to get when buying consoles...except for Nintendo, their products harldy ever crap out.

yet they offer you a free warranty just for registering your console online! what a great company lol

my 360 goes fine. only problem is now and again it freezes. dosent happen often though, i put it down by being a microsoft product.

Both of my friends 360s work just fine after several months of continued use. Either you don't take care of yours, or you just got a faulty unit. No one can make 100% of their consoles perfect.

Another problem iv been noticing is slow FPS in intense action. In Gears Of War, in intense action i can really notice it, sometimes it really drops looks like pry under 10fps. Youd think with 3 cores at 3ghz and a top end graphics chip that shouldnt be an issue.

Maybe my unit is faulty. Iv only had it for a few months, got it before christmas. I got the core unit, but i bought the HDD for it later.

Wow, My friends must have gotten lucky or treat their equipment well

Friend 1 bought one of the first 360's out and has logged at least 2 thousand hours on it, friend 2 just got a brand new one a month ago. A week ago we had a lan type game night, we had the two 360's hooked up and connected to xbox live. We left them on and we where gaming for over 72 hours, never turned them off, they NEVER screwed up once, didnt even lag. No extra cooling or crap. But my friends take care of their stuff, they never drop it or anything. Perhaps thats saying something about your actions toward your 360.

I have done nothing to harm my 360..........yet lol. My last new console (the PS2) met a hammer and all hell broke lose. Another disc drive problem, after 3 months of owning it right after they came out it stopped reading EVERY cd/dvd. Even brand new ones, i couldnt get it to read anything. But i havent done nothing to the 360, mostly cuz it cost double what i paid for the PS2 and i dont wanna be throwing all that money away.

The only thing iv done that would do any damage, and it shouldnt even do any damage, was played it pretty much non-stop when i first got it.

Guess i just have bad luck with consoles. Although the original Playstation iv had for about 10 years still works like new, never had one problem with it. Hell, i used to play this one game on it (road rash 3d) and the cd was cracked and it never skipped once! I think the original Playstation was the greatest console made. Was very durable as well. I was able to fix my old Xbox by buying the new Samsung drive for it, and since then it hasnt had a problem neither.

Yea I mean your just completely unlucky. Everyone else seems to not be having problems but you.

And you could always have it sent to Microsoft to be fixed free of charge.

My sisters bro has a 360 and there are certainly bugs. After enough hours the system will freeze. Happens all the time. Never have a problem with the Wii though :D

Is it me or is my 360 fine?
Granted, it gets hot.
I keep it on its side, while playing for hours and hours, then leave it idle, to go do stuff. Yes it gets hot. Lag, but thats due to halo's server. Though i dont play any 360 games on it alot.
Only gears and this awesome civil war game, i have to play it for home schooling.

But anywho.
I am going to buy a cooler though... For LAN reasons and such.

The PS3 was crap before it was released lol. Im never buying another Sony console after the PS2. The PS2 was worthless and graphics sucked. And i hear the PS3 still has many problems as well, i also hear its Blue Ray Disc thing doesnt work.

Perhaps manufactures should do alot more testing with products before releasing them, i believe every console released has been modified after a few months of its release (hardware/software upgrades) to fix problems that occured due to faulty crap.

The title of this thread is wrong.

It shoud say "My 360 is crap", the actual Xbox 360 is awesome. You are just an unlucky person and got a crappy 360.
