I'm trying to play MVP baseball 2005 on my neighbors PC, but for some reason it is laggy and players are see through.

Here is the specs on the PC

Processor : P4 2.53Ghz

Video Card : nVIDIA GeForce4 MX 4000 This is the card that is in there http://reviews.cnet.com/EVGA_e_GeForce_MX_4000_PCI_128MB/4505-8902_7-30921541.html

Memory : 512MB PC-3200

Hard Drive space: 200G

Now the requirements for the game are as follows

Required Disk Space: 800 MB

Required Video Memory: 32 MB

Required Memory: 128 MB

Required Processor Speed: 800 MHz

Required Processor Class: Intel Pentium III Processor

Recommended Memory: 256 MB

From what I can see my system meets the requirements, but for some reason it doesnt play to well. Any idea?

What settings are you trying to play the game at. Remember, those minimum specs are for the lowest possible graphics settings...

Your video card is the most likely culprit, although the processor isn't that great but it should be decent enough.

Yeah I know this is a pretty old PC, but it really only used for nothing. What kind of card would help out that is inexpensive?

How do you change the settings? I have looked through every menu option and I cant find anything about game play settings

Here is the specs on the PC

Processor : Celeron P4 2.53Ghz

Do you mean Pentium 4 or Celeron?

Look somewhere in the settings menu for the video options.

As for a replacement video card, you could probably pick up a GeForce 6600GT. Here's one on Newegg for $88.99: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814143083

HMMM I'm going to have to keep looking because I cant find a menu for setting, but I will keep looking.

The only issue with that card is my monitor is not HDMI ready. Is there are a card in the $50 range I could use?

Here's something a little cheaper, but the card you have currently would go for around $40 or $50, so anything you buy at that price obviously wouldn't be much of an upgrade... Here's two other options, I'll list some pluses for each:

BFG 6600 - $82.99; Has 8 pixel pipelines (compared to your current 4), and has a GeForce6x processor, and has a DVI output... :)

Sapphire X1650 - $94.99; Is a bit more expensive, but has 12 pixel pipelines, almost double the processor speed of the 6600, and has DDR2 RAM instead of DDR. Definitely worth the extra $12.

Hope you can get one of these...

Are you serious? I thought I was the only person who still plays this game. They REALLY need to release a new baseball game for PC.

LOL Nope I REFUSE to play any other baseball game for PC or any other console because in mu opinion they all suck. I have played all the games for PS2, and XBox, but none of them are as fun as MVP 05.

Thank you for your all your help guys I will see what I can do about cards listed.

Dude!

you bringing MVP 05 up got me looking, and I found this... www.mvpmods.com sign up and you can download a 2007 "update" mod. I just installed it, it seems to be just updated rosters, stadiums, graphics on top of the old game. I'm about to play it and I'll let you know what I think, but that site seems like it has some good stuff for us diehards who have been playing this game for years. Seriously though, I needed and update (I have an astros dynasty and things went screwy after I traded Roger Clemens for Manny Ramirez a few seasons ago). If anything it looks like you could get current rosters if you want to.
