It's taken long enough for this one. Hopefully it will packed with more stuff since EP1 goes far too fast. The Lost Coast segment isn't worth buying that separately since you simply deal with 4-6 combines and you're done! 
They cut that from the original release of HL2 there. This one supposedly has you being chase all over by a smaller version of the striders.

Lost coast is free with purchase of HL2, I dont think you can buy it separately. It wasnt supposed to be released either, it was to show off HL2's new HDR.
I dont think it was too fast, perfect for the price. HL2EP2 will be like 60 but it comes with 2 other games.
You can order the Highway 17 segment separately on disk for like $10- from what I gathered from the Steam ads. EP1 only saw some 6 maps where you are expecting some 15 like seen in HL2 itself as a sequel not simply a smaller addon. But that's the way Steam is playing it out there. That's why you can hope EP2 sees more packed into that one. The reviews on EP1 pointed out how fast it went.
