Internet frequently going out

Back around October-November range, we had Time Warner. Their service was straight up bad. Between the internet going out for a minute 3-4 times a day, their phone lines always being busy, and the 2 weeks wait you had to spend for someone to come out and look.

So, we switched to AT&T. Just about a month or two ago, I noticed the service going out again just for 30 seconds to a minute. So, I am wondering what it could be? A bad wire, or what? Because it's very annoying..

Thanks.

no, if your'e not using the wireless acess point then that wont help us.
Perhaps its the network cable connecting the router to your computer? why not try another one and see if that solves the problem

No, because when it goes out, my Xbox Live goes down, as does everything else in the house.

I have ATT also and suffered the same issue modem would really hot that you could not hold for long time. They tell you is your side like all ISP do. Call them and tell them your modem is defective and its not working properly. They have 1 yrs warranty on them. Whats the Model on your modem?

is your router encrypted with a secure password? someone may try to p2p it causing it to lock up.

do you know if it's a sync problem of the modem or some sort of router problem? if the modem is syncing then try moving the router/modem to another jack.
