I need help with a very unusual problem.

I have a rather unusual need that I am trying to figure out how to accomplish. I need to be able to trigger a mouse click or a key combination on my laptop computer from my desktop computer. I am using a special program on the desktop computer that requires me to click the mouse/touchpad buttons on the laptop, but I cannot hit the required keys or the mouse button because of a disability. I have special hardware and software that allows me to do this, but it is installed separately on both computers, so I cannot use the mouse and keyboard functions on the desktop and the laptop at the same time. It's either one or the other. I have a Rube Goldberg-like solution that might work but I was wondering if there was something easier. My idea was to use a USB missile launcher toy that can be pointed in different directions and is controlled by an accompanying software program. I could make the missile launcher hit the button on the mouse on my laptop. This is really a complicated solution, and I don't like the idea of wasting money on a silly toy to accomplish one little task, so I was wondering if anyone knows of a better solution.

So you are trying to control your laptop using your desktop?
Or are you trying to access something that is in your laptop?

I am kinda confused as to what you are trying to do. I apologize for that. :p
But would setting up a remote desktop works for you?
That way it works is that basically you take over control of your laptop using your desktop (or something like that). I personally have never setup something like this but this method is usually used by help desk to figure out the problem in people's computer (this is in my office).

Actually this program is a type of remote desktop application. I have a little control panel that lets me switch between my two computers. I can use my special auto clicking program to click on the button to switch to my secondary computer. But once I am connected to the secondary computer I cannot get back to the primary computer. The same control panel shows up on the secondary computer, but my clicking program is unable to click on the button to switch back to the primary computer. The remote desktop program is designed to allow you to switch between both computers and operate them with a single mouse and keyboard on the host computer. So I either have to click the mouse button or enter a key combination on the primary computer to switch back to the primary computer. But when I am on my secondary computer I have no way of triggering any input on the primary computer. I hope this is not too confusing since this is a very complicated problem to explain.

How about pluggin both units into kvm switch, don't know if that is possible on laptop but maybe someone else knows...works for mulitiple desktop units.

That defeats the purpose of what I'm trying to accomplish. The program I am speaking of is actually a software version of a kvm switch. I cannot use a hardware KVM switch because I can't push the buttons, so I thought a software alternative would take care of the situation.

That would defeat the purpose of my program. It is actually a software base KVM switch. I can't use a hardware KVM switch because I would be unable to press the buttons so I thought a software alternative would do the trick.
