Do I just plug it in. I know i have to make sure its the same. I think right now I got 2 512 677DDR2 if that sounds right. I want to upgrade to 2 gigs. Im consistently pushing 80 or so percent just running FF3 and google desktop and itunes.

Any recommendations on cheap memory. Does brand or price matter, and could i buy a gig first and another gig later. ie, go from 1 to 1.5 to 2 gigs.

Thanks, Jason

A-data is a good brand
Laptop memory is easy to install, just by flipping the laptop over and unscrewing the memory door.
Yes, you can go from 1 to 1.5 to 2GB.

It's often recommended to have a grounding strip on your arm to install the memory. I used to use a strip, but have got away from it. Basically you want to be careful not to create any static electricity and poke the RAM because you can damage it.

As long as the RAM is rated the same as your system RAM, you should be good to go.

Top names for RAM are Crucial, Kingston, and OCZ.

OCZ, Corsair, Kingston, Patriot, G Skills, pqi, Crucial, ect...

1 OR 2GB is fine for XP. A maximum of 3.25GB if you have the 32 bit version of XP.

There is a small cover on the bottom of your laptop. 2 clips to remove the RAM on the sides. You don't really need an anti static strip, unless you're grabbing the memory all over.

2 gigs is the max my machine can handle anyways. Though xp runs good on 1 gb, i might switch to vista eventually. Used to have it on, but switched back to xp. Also, stuff like autodesk software takes more memory.

Thanks for the replys
