Ps3 over Xbox

I hear the Blueray disk on the ps3 stores more, thus adding better graphics.
The xbox dvds store less.

If this is the case i might make the switch to ps3.
any ideas, or thoughts, or facts?

PS3
Slightly better graphics
blu ray holds more (who cares?)
uhh bunch of features nobody uses
a few good games (can't really think of any great games)

Xbox 360
Amazing selection of titles (Gears, Gears 2, Halo trilogy, orange box, etc.)
Xbox Live service (far superior to ps3's online service and well worth the small fee)
Halo.
Halo 2.
Halo 3.

Thanks bros.
i'm still thinking of adding a ps3 to the collection though.
because of the cheap Blueray disc player combined with web browsing capabilities.
so it'd make a good addition.
but i agree with you on the titles

I don't get it, why do you need to browse the web on a gaming console? To me PS3 took the super console route, with all these features that sound appealing. And Xbox 360 took the "make good games period" route.

BTW, I'm a PS2 owner that was turned Xbox when I was enlightened by Halo :D.

haha
i'm not saying that i "NEED" it. I'm just saying its a good price for a blueray player and a web browser that hooks into the tv. i'm not the type that would hook my pc up to the TV and surround sound, yet..

Thats true. i haven't decided to Toss my xbox into the bin.
i just wanted to know if the ps3 is worth the money

ps3 costs £300
bluray player on its own costs £200

so if you are going to watch bluray discs a lot, the ps3 works out cheaper than the ps2 (~£120) LOL

but the xbox has far better games, and the online is better
the ps3s graphics are only marginally better

the ps3 web browser is a bit crappy btw.

While the xbox is a better buy ATM, Id still say the PS3 has a bit of potential though.

TKnick, you say who cares that a Blu Ray can hold more, well logically, if your media can hold more data, I would imagine that the game would be better. Thats not the case at this point in time but it is something to take into consideration. Who knows if theyll take advantage of the extra capacity or if they'll wait for the next console but there is some potential in the PS3.

PS3 has better hardware but once again, it just hasnt been taken advantage of yet.

Just my 2 cents.

But at this point in time, the 360 is the way to go...but you already have one.

its the same as the ps2 vs xbox1 debate

xbox1 had better graphics, better online
but ps2 played dvds and had better games

most people got ps2 - dvd was new then, and peple cared more about playability than graphics

I'd say that you should get a PS3, and that's coming from a 360 owner.

The PS3 has FAR better graphics and more realistic environments. The sports games they have on display at Fry's don't do it justice. See GTA4 on both consoled side by side on hd tvs. The little details will make you shit yourself.
Home plus the recent announcement of a single registration mean that PS3's online experience will soon be on par with Xbox LIVE.
With the release of Dualshock3, PS3 most of the controller debates are over, and even if most don't use it, Sixaxis is an option.

It's not the data that makes the game better. The data makes the graphics better and the gameplay less buggy in most situations. And PS3's not coming out with another console for close to 8 years, that's why they future proof their hardware and use the disks that have 4times the space.

PS3 has better hardware but once again, it just hasnt been taken advantage of yet.
Yet is the key word.

If you look back the first 3-4 years were rocky for all the Sony consoles. They may lose the first few battles, but Hiroshima's coming and it's gunna hit hard.

Note: I'm not a fanboy, but now that I have an upper mid-range pc, and Bioshock's announced for the PS3, I'll likely be picking one up in the next year. This was not an attack on epidemik, but merely a counter to his claims.

Peace

bluray can hold something like 25gb's or 50 gb's on a double sided bluray disk, i would still choose an xbox 360 over the ps3 though, most of ps3's exclusives blow, and most of the other games are available on the 360

i looked at the screen shots

http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/08/01/john-carmack-says-blu-ray-offers-better-graphics/

and i feel this thread i found on the web is very true ps3 would be the best choice because blu-ray can hold from 25GB to 50GB of storage so therefore my reason for saying its better is backed up by this thread one reason would be that ps3 is the best bang for the buck only if you can get over the costly hurdle as far as getting the 80 gig version so heres my reason why i think its better ps3 games when they come out if they arent collectors edition gold or premium or something copies or whatever they call them special copy's with more bonus features and a cool case then they are what 60 dollars if you get a 360 game which is on a not so big dual layer dvd rom its 60 dollars like microsoft always does with ya they are raping you for your cash yeah its true they got the games right now but you gotta look at it from this standpoint ps3 launched after 360 and 360 was suspose to be sticking to the hd dvd instead of dual layer but they chose to stick with dual layer i guess cuz when i first saw stuff on the web it was saying 360 would have hd dvd which could hold up to 15 gb to 30 gigs ps3 looks better i say in my opinion with games and performs very well gran turismo 5 prologue comes aa ya at 60 frames a second now games are gonna prolly become more costly on 360 for the sake of the developers according to that link i put up here.

if 360 stuck to hd dvd if they didnt wanna go blu-ray they could have been more of a formidable foe and therefore games would be longer and may have lil more detail for the 360 as well so i would say its quality over quantity would you rather have more games that are exclusive or would you have games that look good and perform even better then they look

gta iv i hear has a stuttering framerate on some parts of the 360 version ps3 doesnt have that problem at all from what i hear

The PS3 is the technically better console but there is one problem with it; most of the games don't support 1080p whereas a lot of Xbox ones do, in fact GTA IV has been reported to run at 630p (Xbox = 720p) which is something no-one can explain because the PS3 is more powerful. It's also a lot quieter and has the higher capacity drive which is a selling point for me (I own a 360). When GT5 comes out it'll be a very hard console to resist so demand and price will rocket. Get one now if you want one and don't wait. :p

I love how people jump on the price band wagon, wow the 360 is so much cheaper, yea it is but thats before you factor in that you have to buy a new one ever year...

Funny! You may have to replace it more than you would with a PS3, but you certainly don't need to pay for it.

Microsoft has accepted their mistake and covers the costs.

PS3 hardly has better graphics. Their graphics might be better, but they leave out details that the 360 keeps.

ps3 all the way baby! hi def tv, with blu ray discs.. a combination that only ps3 can offer. bear in mind that HD-dvd movies are not easy to find due to blu ray simply being better. add to that a very good quality hdmi cable, and ps3 visuals beat those of xbox. better games on xbox? halo is great, no doubt, but ps3 has some great titles too.
playstation network is free, allows free video chat with your mates, u can play any format movie, and connect with your psp too. not to mention the new playtv, where u can record movies/tv programmes onto the ps3 directly from tv, and transfer them to your psp.
and personally, i have never liked xbox control pads. ps3 controllers are ridiculously light, and the new dualshock ones are top notch.

just my 2 cents!
