I started gaming online pretty recently and it seems like it would be fun to have a mic to chat. Do you all use them?

I'm thinking of getting one, but have no idea what to get, how much to spend, etc. Any advice on that? I would want one that automatically detects your voice, and of course has decent sound quality. How much would that cost?

Seriously? It's a mic, they are pretty generic. Just go down to best buy or something and pic up a logitec one or something. It honestly doesn't matter. Just don't get a cheapy $10 mic.

hey man, go to your local shop and just get a headphone/mic headset. Logitech, microsoft, and creative all make a model and there are others too.

Don't buy el' cheapo model but you also dont need to break bank by any means...

Thanks for the help, sorry on the repost. For some reason posting threads takes forever and is not working... anyone else having this issue recently?

Theres no reason to spend any more then 20$ on a mic and 50$ on a headset IMO, but spend at least 10 on a mic.

For automatically detecting your voice, they are all enabled all the time, but weather the game or program automatically outputs it to the game depends on the game or program and not the mic. Most you just hold down a button when you talk, but there are some that will detect that your talking and start submitting.
