im looking at the macbook with 2.4 ghz processing speed, system bus 800 mhz, 2 gb ram, and 160 gb hard drive

the hp model im also looking at is dv5-1017nr
it has 2.0 ghz processing speed, 1066 mhz system bus, 4 gb ram, and 320 gb hard drive

would that .4 extra processing speed on the macbook make it better than the hp, eventhough the hp has more memory elsewhere? i am a complete computer dunce someone explain :-( plz and thanks :)

oh and they are both about the same price at best buy

Are you also comparing the price? Personally I'd go with the macbook, just cause it looks a lot better. But, macs area also known to be pretty expensive..

I believe you can run windows on Macbook. In this point, I'll choose the Macbook over the HP. I'm currently using the Fujitsu LifeBook S6410 with same specific. It is so light and the weight is about 1.66kg.

im in the same boat as you. Im looking at macbook's too but im holding back due to massive rumours of a new model coming out VERY soon. I can only assume the old model will be sold for penuts in stores that have some left over when the new ones come out.

you may want to do what im doing and wait just a lil bit ;)

Re

I found out the Lifebook S6410 look kinda nice, I may pick the Lifebook S6410 instead of the Macbook. Moreover, I think it's a nice notebook with a great performance and less expensive.

Are we really buying a computer based off looks? They both have screens and a key board. Mac's cost more and they don't have crap for HDD space. PC are far more cost effective and unless you plan on doing some CRAZY (and I mean crazy) amount of video, photo and/or graphic design you don't need a Mac. Waist of money.

Macbook is nice also the latch is magnetic so no hooks. Also you have a magnetic power adaptor. Go for the Mac

Hi, I'm a 12-year-old kid and I'm too ignorant to understand why anybody would do anything differently than me because I have no life experience so I project my needs (and I use the term 'needs' loosely, as my computing needs range from making embarrassingly inane videos of myself to post on YouTube to comparing notebook computers on the basis of magnetic latches on computer forumes) and wants onto others.

So you should get a Mac.

Do you have any legitimate forum accounts among the interwebs? Why do you continue to come back?

I would get the Mac but my opinion is biased. What are you using the laptop for? Macs can run windows, and MS makes a mac version of Office, I have it on my macs.

You can't honestly compare them side by side, but you can compare them by what your needs are versus what it offers you out of the box.

but why buy a mac then pay more for windows when you can just buy a pc with it on for a fraction of the pricre

Why buy a Porsche when you can buy a Kia? They both drive and can go 80MPH, and get you from point A to point B, so why buy a Porsche?
