I'll be using it to play games mostly. Costs $1023 from Vigor Gaming.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 AM2 6000+ Processor at 3.0GHz, 2000MHz FSB, 1MB X 2 Cache

Vigor RiveliTM Air Vent with Double 80MM Case Fan

Standard AMD/Intel Certified 500 Watt Power Supply

MSI DKA790GX Platinum AMD 790GX

4GB Kingston KVR800D2N5K2/2G X 2 DDR2 800MHz (4 X 1024MB)

nVidia GeForce 9600 GT 512MB Xtreme Plus Edition @725MHz

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic 64-bit

I'm not too sure if I have enough power or cooling. Thanks for any input.

Yea the power supply needs to be about 150-250 watts higher just to be safe. Other than that, it looks great.

I agree with the power supply....

Now, just the price, i'm sure with $1,000 you can much better than that!

I did a google search and found this, is that their website???

If so, not to sure about it.

I would recommend building one, or buying a prebuilt one from newegg. Newegg have some really good deals, if you have trouble finding them, i can help and i'm also happy to provide you with a good build.

That is my opnion.

I know a decent amount about computers, but one of my friends (who knows way more about them) recommended that I didn't build one myself in case I mess up.

Yup, that is the website. They have a lot of good reviews.

I would like to build one, (sounds like lots of fun :D) but I am afraid I'll mess it up, and once I do my money is wasted and I have no computer :(

If I could do much better for $1000, and you guys could help me, I'd love that.

Thanks for the advice!

OK, well maybe get your friend to help you with the build, but building isn't hard and it is a lot of fun :)

check your messages

Don't try, it's not worth it, might as well pay his friend to build it for him!

Well, my friend moved all the way across the state for college, and I'd rather not involve him anyway...

With all the shipping costs for individual parts how much can you save anyway?

I found this on Newegg but it actually seems too good to be that cheap.

Oh, and I'm not too sure I want a quad core. I know they'll be commonplace in the future, but are they really that much better than a dual core? I head they can sometimes slow a program that doesn't know how to utilize all four.

There aren't many applications that can utilize 4 cores at this point, although any rendering/editing program would see a performance boost with a 4 core rather than a 2 core.

4 Cores is about the same for most of what is going on RIGHT NOW, but in the future, they will be better, so you would be better off getting it.

I've never heard any reports of it actually slowing any programs down... that seems very odd.
