Water Cooling

Should I water cool my CPU? I had a friend put together a kit, and it was around $240. I would use non conductive coolant, but was wondering if it's worth it.

If it's not, recommend me a nice air cooler.

Thanks.

most of the time you would get away with a nice air cooler and good case airflow!!

post the parts he has put together for you!!

I would say stick with an air cooling. Look into the Zalman 9700, Tuniq Tower and the Thermalright Ultra-120

Well I just found out that my friend found a good deal on a Thermaltake water cooling kit that he's used before, it was $80, so I'm going to try that out.

QFT ;)

That's about the best aircooling you can get. Don't even bother looking at that electro-something cooler from Ultra, it's like $120 but it's not worth it. Either get a high-end air cooler or build a nice water cooling system. You can also look at the Swiftech H20-120 which I already mentioned to you in some other thread. It's basically a water system for the CPU only. It goes for about $120 @ Newegg, I would pick that any day of the week over that electro cooler from Ultra. But again, A high-end air cooler should do the work IMO.

get a d5 pump, either a dtek or ek supreme, a 240mm or 360mm radiator(swiftech or thermochill pa), a reservoir of some sort, you can get the stuff from petrastechshop.com or performance-pcs.com thats provided you're doing cpu only

Well, I picked up that Thermaltake CPU kit, my friend has been using the TT water block for 2 years and hasn't had a problem.

Bad choice IMO, your temperatures will be highe than an air cooler you could have bought cheaper, thermaltake do not make good water cooling equipment, anyone who knows their stuff can back me up on this

My friends brother has this same cooler and has much lower temps than mine, on air, so..

He has the same processor, and it's overclocked.
