Ok, so im in the market for a new camera..kinda, gonna be awhile before i have the money to purchase one, but i was looking at some kits on ebay/amazon. I found this kit which appears to be pretty good, any opinions on it?

So as a whole is it worth it? Im looking mainly at the lenses/camera/remote/filters selection, as i have a good tripod already and memory cards are a dime a dozen on newegg.

XSI is great camera. Most of the stuff in the ad though is cheap shit they have thrown in, but the body, the 55-250mm IS lens, the filters, and bag are pretty good for that price. ($1000)

Right now, in Canada, I could get an XSI body for $649.00, plus $300.00 for the 55-250mm IS, lets say $30 for the bag, and $40 for the filters. The other lens is a crap kit lens that we all get some form of.

I'd personally like to see that auction a bit cheaper, but for the core elements it's okay---just sucks when people add 9 pounds of crap on their auctions to give the illusion of value by volume.

Best of luck--

p.s. depending on where you live, check prices on the body new in store. Even if this auction is for new stuff, I still feel its too high.

The XSI is not the 1000.00 camera it was a few months back. Don't let ebay people hussle you.

p.s. those 2 'lens' attachments they have....never use that low quality trash...the glass will be garbage and can risk damaging your camera--due to bogus filter coating...just toss that shit in garbage.

Yeah, i wouldnt use the things they call "lenses",i have an old 35mm minolta SLR that used to be my dads, wouldnt use any of those cheap attachments on it, but now should i forget about the ebay kit and get the Xsi +kit lens and 55-250mm IS lens off amazon? Prices should hopefully be a little lower by then also right? I hope so, because i only have about $200 or so right now, so need a little more time before im gonna be able to buy anything.

If it's 649.99 new or less thats pretty good..plus a 55-250mm is for 250-300ish..

Thats all u need, rest of that stuff is filler.

The 55-250mm is an absolutely fabulous lens. Only drawback for me is that its an ef-s lens so down the road when i finally go full-frame slr, I will not be able to use any ef-s lens with it..

No worries, I have an old rebel xt and a 40D, Canon slr's are great, you will love the xsi, my friend and mother both have them.

I got a Nikon D40 for my bday but was given the option of upgrading to the XSi if I wanted to, with me paying the difference of course. The cheapest price I've found from reputable dealers is $890 for the body, the 18-55mm kit lens (which has good reviews) and the 55-250mm zoom lens. It has been a couple of weeks since I was vigorously searching but I don't think prices have fluctuated too much.

Here's what I found. Body and 18-55mm lens: http://www.us1photo.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=5822

55-250mm lens: http://www.adorama.com/CA55250AFSR.html

I have the XSi with the 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens, great combo in addition to the kit lens.
