I have having problems with using screen recording programs.

Every time I try to capture, only the first frame of video is captured, as a still image. Nothing else is recorded. I have tried AviScreen Classic, Frap, and bulent (I only want freeware).

What am I doing wrong? How can I set it so that I capture video? I make sure I use the video options when recording (not still), but still are all I get. Don't suggest Cam Studio. I tried it, worst piece of software I've ever used. If someone can either help me through with aviscreen or bulent, or suggest a good freeware screen recorder, that will be great!

Oh, I'm using Windows XP, SP2. I'm trying to record wmv files I'm watching online, and this is where the problems from.

I've heard of VLC Media Player but never used it.

If you use Firefox, try getting the DownloadHelper add-on. That might be the simplest solution. After you get DownloadHelper, use it to download the video to your computer. The file will be in .flv format so you will need a video converter to convert it to avi, mpg, etc.
A good freeware video converter is FormatFactory.

Jing will do exactly what you want, plus it will automatically upload your
videos to the Screencast website free of charge, so you don't have the
videos taking up space on your hard drive.

All you need is to create an account with Screencast. No spam, nothing
to buy. Just a handy free app that lets you capture your screen. Don't
worry about creating the account right away. When you install Jing, it
will prompt you.

Have fun. It's a great app.
