Hi,

I am new in this forum and my english is not so perfect, I speak french.

I want to know if my new Dell Inspiron 530 can run 2 graphic card in SLI/CrossFire mode. Because, I want to upgraped my actual graphic card(ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB) for 2 XFX GeForce 8600 GTS XXX edition 256MB(I want these card because is cheap price and i can have 2 of them for 200$ Canadian and give good performance in game). Just to advise, I have called Dell 1 month ago to know if a BFG GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB well a 512MB can be compatible or fit on my computer, but they told me; No, you can't go over 256MB graphic card, and if you want, you can buy 1 of ours NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT 256MB. They just give me this for information, they haven't told me why I can't or what I need to do to fit a 512MB. And by the way guys, if I can't really fit a 512MB graphic card and can't run 2 cards on SLI/CrossFire mode, I want to know the best graphic card with 256MB can be on my computer.

I will give you's some specificaiton about my computer.

Processor - Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 2.33GHz
Memory Ram - 6144MB
Windows OS - Windows Vista Home Premium Edition Familial 64Bits

If you need some more specification told me what you need to know.

Thanx and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I will do my best with the French I know...

I can read it better than I can type...but I'll try.

I agree, I would also get a single higher end card instead of two low/middle end cards in SLI. The 4850 or 4870 are great cards, and come with up to 512MB-1GB of memory.

im just guessing, but im going to say scooter told him to get a 4870 512mb graphics card, as far as i know, most dells(except the xps series) don't support multiple card setups, but something like the 4870 or gtx 260 would be a much better graphics card

Ok, THX for all these comments guys and thank you scooter for this help, now I will take of my mind to run SLI/CrossFire. I thinking about to get a 4870 but my budget stop at 240$ Canadian and the 4870 cost up to 300$ so, I will buy a 4850 for like 200$. Want to know if the 4850 can run maxed out at 1680x1050(hightest resolution my monitor 22 inchs can do) COD4, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, Crysis(this game don't really know if I really want to buy it), FarCry2 and newest coming... But I don't really care about putting AA on game. I will just using the ATI Drivers/3D/Standard Setting to optimal quality and balanced. My computer case measure in centimeter height(36.5) and length(42). And can you guys told me the best 4850 I can buy for maximum 240$ and the best one how much they cost. http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=FR&sku_id=0926INGFS10108453&catid=20397 this is the one I have found in 5mins research that enter in my budget (don't forget is canadian price). This card have a PCIE 2.0 x16 connection and I don't know if I have one but if I have a PCIE x16 is it going to work to? And they require a 450W PSU and by doing research in the net I have found that my PC have 350W if I buy it and plug it on my pc did they run a risk to overheat something like the PSU? I DON'T DO OVERCLOCKING ON MY PC!

Don't buy from bestbuy unless they match for you!!

We carry the Sapphire HD4870 512mb 750mhz card for $265.00CAN.

I'm not tryin to hussle business either, just noting that you have a place to compare too.

All these places will price match so don't let them overcharge you, and don't feel you have to settle on anything.

p.s. you will want an upgraded psu to run a 4800-series card. 350-400 is no good!

Cheers.

Yeah unless bestbuy has a good sale on them just get one from somewhere else.
Like others said the 4850-4870 or even the NVIDIA gtx260-and 280 are good aswell but they carrie a bit heavier price tag.
Edit I saw you mentioned you were looking at crysis I might as well plug in a comment.
It's a fun game if you like things like half-life and what not.

They only price match if the lower price is from a local store, not an online site. At least that's what they do here in NH.

In Canada, futureshop, bestbuy, and others will match any canadian priced product...be it online or in store. You just have to show them that it's available from someone else.

I've used this many times and honored it at our shop!!

So, the OP is trying to get Best Buy to match online prices?

No, no...I'm just saying that he doesnt need to settle on a 4850, and that bestbuy will lower their price if he shows them a cheaper one!!!

Just tryin to help/show him that the 4870 512mb for the budget he specified is attainable!! :)

I believe the reason they don't do that here is because anyone could easily make up a website and post fake prices and try to get BestBuy to price match it.

True I thought about trying that once to see if I could get cheap tires then I thought I'd have a make up and fake add, store adress, phone numer, and so on.

Cool mep96 for the Radeon 4850 you have sent a good list for awsome price then the bestbuy, thanx alot! But now my 2 problems... Is it really neccesary to upgraped my PSU, because my dad only let me change the graphique card and notthing more, so I am stuck with the original PSU. And my other its a good list they have sent me but too much 4850 there lol what choice for the best one for abudget of 240$. Well in the list did they have one required like 350 Watts or something that my PSU will have no problem. In other forum, lots of peopel talking about a small PSU and card require like 100 watts plus then the PSU and said before buying a new PSU jsut try with the one you have if they cause a problem change it, you will know only if you try(but I don't really want to overheat the PSU if I run a big risk). Or if is impossible to plug the 4850 with no problem(PSU), did someone know another card 512MB and is powerfull but now that can run with a 350 watts PSU( and I said 350W is probably 300W, I will open my computer today to see what is it and if I have place to put a bigger card. Sorry for the confuse... And if my dad let me, can you guys send me a list of PSU compatible and can fit in my DELL INSPIRON 530, for cheap price and one that going be good with the 4850 for like 50$-100$(CAN). Thinking about the Silencer 500 DELL if i can change the PSU is PSU build by/for DELL PC

by doing some more research yesterday I have found these card (4850 series) and a list

list- http://www.infoprix.ca/cartes-video/tri.php?criteres=18-92
card- http://www.lucomputers.com/product_parts_detail.asp?pro_class=234&id=10818&parent_id=234
card- http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=14080BD6541&vpn=100242L&manufacture=SAPPHIRE

Thanx
P.S. DarkTears I don't overclock because I have never overclock something, and because the risk about the OC I don't really want to overclock my new pc. LOL
