New computer purchase and question

The girlfriend bought a new Compaq Presario with an SATA hard drive and Vista Home Edition. The old machine was an XP machine with an IDE drive controller.

I looked at the new motherboard specs and can't find any mention of an IDE controller.

Does anybody know of an easy way to connect the old IDE hard drive to the new machine so I can migrate files over from old to new.

Barring that, does anybody know what type cable is used if I have to do the Windows Easy Transfer (WET) procedure.

thanks

i think you can just plug cat5e cable into the back of the machines, so that they are both connected, and transfer files over that way

He would need a crossover cable to connect 2 machines and would have to configure network settings, which can be difficult to get running at times.

To original poster.... your best bet is to either use a high capacity flash drive and copy files over that way or buy a pci ide controller card, or buy a wireless router that has a 4 port switch(such as the linksys wrt54g) and set up a small home netowrk.
