Future Build

I would like to know an estimate of how much an i7 build would be. I might plan on fully upgrading later in the year, but I'd like to have some stuff in mind, and keep an eye on some stuff. Since I want to be as future-proof as possible, I want to consider the GTX 295, if that's still a good card, then SLI it later on.

If you can, I'd like to pricing based on low-med-high packages.

Thanks.

beings the chip is ranging for 4-500$ you can build a decent everyday user for under 800. if your wanting a gamer your gonna look into a 1200 range

I have been trying to put a i7 system together for a couple of weeks now. I have been able to get it around $1200. Thats with a i7 920 and a 4870 gpu and 3 gigs of ram + all the other things like 2 hard drives and a PSU, but does not include an OS.

You also might look at this.

I just do not care for the video card included and I HATE the case. So I can not justify buying it, But it's the cheapest i7 system I have found yet.

Hm, alright, do you think prices will drop or more stuff with come out within the next couple of months?

And also, the i7 setup will be some what future-proof, right? Since it's new technology and all? And what do you think about a single 295, then adding another one down the road?

Thanks.

Yes the prices will drop more and there will be more processors to choose from as time goes on. I would by a single card for right now and by another one down the road when the are cheaper.
