is a sound card output analog?

i am trying to understand this because my home theater receiver will allow you to redirect 2 of the 7.1 speakers and set up a second zone so that they can work with another audio source separately. but they only work with analog sources. i have a quarter inch jack in my very old sound blaster sound card and then red/white rca cables going into my receiver. that makes me think it is analog, unless of course i need rca cables on both ends? thanks for the help!

Yes the red/white and 1/4 inch jacks are always analog. Only the optical jack or the coax jack are digital
