Hi im terrible at making decisions on stuff like this. I need a pc where i can run design/video editing apps, and also play games. I think its a tough decision because each option has different + points. (i dont want to build myself)

1) Q9550, Ati 4870, 4gb ram, 650w PSU, basic motherboard, vista-64 £735

2) Q6600, Ati 4870, 4gb ram, 650w PSU, crossfire motherboard, vista-64 £643

3) Dell i7 920, Ati 4850, 6gb ram, 350w PSU, vista-64 £630

these are my options (i dont want them re-customised)

* obviously the dell is a fantastic price but it only has 1x16 slot in motherboard and the psu cant be upgraded.

all advice welcome!

Definitely gotta have the Crossfire motherboard, so my vote goes with #2.

i would go with option three, i doubt you see a differnce on a 4850 and a 4870

i dont know how well that psu will do on full load though

dont know what chipset is with 1, i only know its asus and its not crossfire ready, as for number 2 it is an ASUS P5K 1333FSB-DDR2 1066x motherboard. dont know much else.

what if i added a 4th option:

1) Q9550, Ati 4870, 4gb ram, 650w PSU, basic motherboard, vista-64 £735

2) Q6600, Ati 4870, 4gb ram, 650w PSU, crossfire motherboard, vista-64 £643

3) Dell i7 920, Ati 4850, 6gb ram, 350w PSU, vista-64 £630

4) Q9550, Ati 4850, 4gb ram, 530w PSU, vista-64, but not crossfire. £606

Just wondering why you are all about the Q9550. The Q6600 can be overclock nicely and you'll save money too.

so is the extra cash for the q9550 not worth it really?

whats everyones opinions on the dell option. i know its got a low psu, but they wouldnt sell it if it wasnt thoroughly tested?

I am leaning toward #1. However, I would not consider it if its motherboard with onboard graphic card...

#2 with motherboard ASUS P5K with P35 chipset seems OK. Although its crossfire don't support full speed. Get P45 if possible...
