do a defrag, that should fix it up

copy contents from folders in documents and settings and delete them and paste into new folders

I know the problem. Right click the drive and open properties. Select tool tab and click error checking. Only tick the first option.

Make sure there is no autorun.inf file in the drive by show hidden files and untick hide protecting system files.

Hi..i did the steps u mentioned..when i double click hard drive,a pop up window is opened "choose the program u want to use to open this file". and there are many programs below. which one to choose? wats wrong?

For C: drive..when i right click, the first option is "open". c drive is working fine. But for all other drives, when i right click, the first option is "Auto". It should be "open". How to make "open" as first option and remove "Auto" option. I deleted the autorun.info file, even then the first option is "Auto" only.

I thought so. I forgot to mention to you to delete the autorun.inf files first then run the disk checking.

I did that. It worked. but when i restarted the system, again the problem came. i checked in the drive, again the autorun.inf file is there. i dont know how it came there in all drives again after restarting system.

Now, when i open hard drive,i am getting error message "c:\resycled\ntldr.com is not a valid win32 application"...Now, Again i deleted that file, but that is creating on its own again and again even without restarting system..

Please help me...

It seem you pc have virus. Do a full anti virus scan and then do again what I said before. I recommend you to use kaspersky antivirus to do a full antivirus scan. make sure the antivirus database is up to date before scanning.
