Vista HP to Vista Ultm problem

so here's the down-low...
my cousin just bought this kick ass Asus laptop- and he's got a 64 Bit vista Home Premium operating system, i told him i could upgrade it to Ultimate for him, but he already had installed a crap load of programs that he doesn't want to re-install, and he also had drivers/computer software that would be hard to retrieve that came with the computer... is there a way to copy all of the programs onto a disk or some sort, and re install them on the new OS?...

Does his new computer not have a recovery manager application of some sort? Most computers don't come with recovery disks anymore that I noticed when I purchased my laptop. But it did come with a recovery management software built in. I was allowed to create one set of CD or DVDs using this "Recovery Management" software. It allows me to install both drivers and software that came with my laptop. It gave me the ability to pick and choose specific drivers and software.

My laptop Is an HP, But I would think that most laptops would have this type of recovery option. My wifes Acer laptop also has the same thing.

oyah... thats agood idea for the default programs... but its Asus.. i hiligh doubt that is had a seprate drive... lemme ask him.

the only computer i know that will have recovery drives for sure are Hewlett Packards and Dell comps
