Website help

I'm hoping to get my own website up and running. The only problem is this is my first stab at it and I need some guidance. I need to know the best domain company and hosting site. I need the website to have at least 15 pages and I expect about 100 visitors a day. I'm unsure where to turn for these services and if anyone has a great beginner website or ebook, please let me know. Thanks! :)

Sounds good!

You need a host that suits you, so consider the ones below and look at what they can offer and how much you have to pay for. Be careful with the DNS, if you think your website is gonna be a hit then you may want to register with several domain names, .com, .uk and .org are the best ones. From some of these companies you will get one free DNS.

-Fast Hosts
-1and1
-justhost
-host clear

there are many more good ones, those are just a few of the top of my head which are good ones.

I suggest you look into becoming a affiliate for websites. Check out googles 'ad sense' and amazons affilate programmes. I presume youve looked into this, but just a reminder!

For a basic site most hosting companies' would suit you, 100 hit's a day isn't too demanding, just make sure you have a package with decent bandwidth & storage requirements.

Personally I use, and am happy with, DreamHost (http://www.dreamhost.com/). They offer a free domain for the lifetime of your package with them, and offer a 97 day money back guarantee - so if you don't like them just cancel the package. All this for just $10 per month, and if you use the code max97 it will give you up to a $97 discount, which equals first year for just over $20.

Good luck with the website!

If you can get visitor's to it, then that is one of the hardest tasks done.

As said before, there are various options available. Although i would question spending cash on a host, when you can get a freeone easily enough (and yes, they can come without adverts) so you just pay $10 every 2 years for the domain.

if you need a hand getting it set up, send me an email, and i may be able to get a basic CSS/HTML layout written for you (i do it in my spare time)

I recommend bluehost as a hosting company (www.bluehost.com), you get a free domain with purchase, their customers support is Great - 24x7 free -, you get unlimited storage space (no set limit), and unlimited bandwith for $6.95 a month. You can add on any domain for $10 more a year, and hosting price does not change.

Hmm...I might avoid 1and1 because they are like GoDaddy. And when I say that, they are more interested in domain sales and getting a customer a regular HTML page with as little effort on their part.
