the GTS250 is a great card...but I think its probably overkill for just playing WoW....

I Used to have an 8600GT and I believe that could run the game on full settings without any problems...

im pretty sure a 9600GT would be able to run it on full:

you can play wow on a toaster.

The 8800 and the 9600 are the exact same GPU.

A cheap 8600GT would nail this game, but so would an old 5500.

Get the cheapest POS you can find if that is your only game you care to play, but make sure your PSU has at least 26A on the 12V rail if you add a GPU>

Dont listen to this guy, psu suitability has nothing to do with wattage and both those cards are complete overkill for that game.

I was under the impression that the 9800 was basically a "new" 8800, not the 9600 :S .... lol

yeah the 8600GT runs it fine, I can't remember for sure what settings I had it on, but I believe it was on full, or nearly...

Yeah, I saw that people were suggesting overkill cards...Sure if you want to play newer games in the future it may be worth considering a GTS250 or something, but if you are only going to be playing WoW you dont need to be spending more than $100

Unless you are walking through Dalaran. My system gets around 100 FPS everywhere in the game on all Ultra. I touch Dalaran and my system cries. I get around 25 FPS.

I had this card before my GTX 260, and it did just fine.

Yeah, but any card will have a problem there, its always just so damn busy!

Thats cool... I was pretty sure it would be ok.

The 9600GT with a little overclock and a decent processor will run through that game and tear it apart. As for Dalaran that is a lost hope, as you said its very busy and blizzard thinks "OH HAI LETS PUT MOAR NPCS" "LOLLAG". Cause you know Shatt wasn't bad enough they had to make it 5 times worse.

Well a 9800GT will do the job...my mothers PC runs a 9800GT on max settings @ 1024x768 and I ran WoW before I quit @ 1440x900 with a 8800GT both cards are under $100 and can be ran on a 450w PSU.

Stale 60 FPS before WOTLK but they keep over 30-50 (Dalaran is the 30ish place) FPS with her 2.7ghz dual-core PC and with my Q6600 system I jump between 40-60 FPS.

Playing WoW on max settings on max resolution is a pretty hard task. My PC can't even do it when i'm in Northrend. I run between 20-30fps when i'm in rolling around. But I was told it's because of the dual GPU I have setup. I would have been better off with a single GPU setup.
