Hey guys, I will be getting a water cooler for my PC next week. I want to take a few statistics to see how popular and reliable they are. Thanks guys.
well not always, especially when nowadays quadcores overclock much further, sometimes far enough that air cant handle them. The i7 920 and 975 probably clock somewhat similar on air, due to the amount of heat they put out. But get water, and you would see the 975 clock somewhat further most of the time.the problems with water cooling are as follows:
1) maintenance and installation are a pain
2) expensive
3) only marginally better cooling performance
my biggest gripe with watercooling, is that it sucks the value out of overclocking. its usually better to spend $350 more on your processor and get a $50 heatsink then to spend $400 on a watercooling setup.

You don't count.
i think if you put it to performance water comes ontop
Little? Its not a little gain going from air to water, for one the rad can be outside the case which means cooler air. Other factors include more area and more effecient area to remove heat from, heatpipes can only be so effective, unlike water which is in a continuous loop. This may be true, but I said price/performance. The little bit of gains you get is not worth the price.
i thought that water cooling when it came out would be noise free and more solid state cooling, but it still has heatsinks and fans....completely pointless....
