Anyone on here enjoy the MechWarrior franchise?

Seems like I saw a few people on here post awhile back that they liked MW games.I enjoyed them to and actually were my favorite Sim type games.

I didnt play the older MW 2 and earlier but bought the MW3 /pirates moon as well as all the MW 4 games and expansions and enjoyed them tremendously SP as well as Online play.

I know a group called Smith and Tinker bought the rights for the franchise and I am keeping my fingers crossed they would either do a MW 5 or even some kind of MMO MW if it was done right.They surely have plans I am hopeing as the game always had a lot of fun to it.

The games were way ahead for their time when it came to playability

I really, really hope they make another of those games.
There is a (rather big) group of modders building a total Conversion mod for Crysis.

other than that, I think a Mechwarrior MMO would work quite brilliantly. I mean, you have all different kinds of Clans and planets. so basically go conquer the galaxy, and you're set. :p


Either way.. immagine what you could do with a game like that, and the game engines that are now available for it.

Haha what a coincidence I just played mech warrior 4 for the first time yesterday at a lan party yesterday. Really fun game, especially with a joystick.

plays great with a x45 (or X52) :D

I've tried playing it last year. but the grafics are now jsut too terrible for me to get into the game again. :(

Mechwarrior 3 was the game that got me into PC gaming. :D Way too much fun. I vaguely remember the plot. I mostly remember doing the first missions repeatedly, as I cared more about shooting things than the missions.

Here is an update that was posted on another board today.


Pirhana games and Smith and Tinker are supposedly working on something.They have released some short teaser trailers if you follow the links.I would gladly like to play an updated version of the game.It is said to run on the Unreal 3 engine.


There is also said to be an announcement thursday by Smith and Tinker so we will see soon

Is That an "ATLAS FOOT" in that one video ? Hehe

I remember playing the first one back on the Ps1,I loved that game and it would be fun to have a new one with better graphics :)

I like how the building explodes with all the windows blasting out .If you watch it carefully it has impact damage on the mechs as well as guns heating up red then cooling.Looks like it is going to to be like the MW and not the crappy "mech assault" arcade game they had on the console

shame there isnt anythign known about a release date yet. :( Either way, if everything works out, I'm definately going to get this game on release. :)

That wasn't the first MW game ;)

The first I know of came out in 1989 for DOS/Mac/NES. There was also a battletech game on Sega Genesis that was a lot of fun. I think MW2 was the most fun, I played that up until MW4 came out.

I am hoping they have a lot of it done so a release date may not be too far off.If they could give an alpha test date that would help alot .They have stated that the all the vids released are actual ingame footage so they are at least that far along .They sure kept it quiet ,which is good I guess.

I am read to get my 6erll Sunder boat online.Hehe
