Choppy video in IE

I just bought a brand new laptop with 4 gigs of ram and a core 2 duo processor. I loaded the latest version of internet explorer and decided to watch a youtube video. It was choppy, skipping about every 3 seconds. The same thing occurred on multiple sites including streaming news media.

The problem only occurs when the video is still downloading though it could be a sliver away from fully downloaded and it'll still skip. On my old computer I did not have this problem. When I use firefox on the new computer I have no video skipping problem. I would like to know why IE is unable to fluidly play any video that is not completely downloaded and if there is something I can do to fix it.

Important info:
- I have a fast speed connection so it downloads faster than the playback
- I watched the system resources while I played a video in IE and it was only using 20% of the CPU and 40% of the physical memory.

I don't know. My sisters brand new computer has it too. I didn't check in firefox though. That'd be great. But, in google chrome it was still choppy. So... yeah, I'll check. My sisters laptop is an Inspiron 17 inch Dual core 2.5ghz and 4gb of ram.

"why not just use firefox then?"
Because I hear the new IE has much better security. I also would like to know what the problem is because I see no reason why a new computer with a new OS and a new browser should have skipping video. If it has something to do with the computer I would like to return it soon.

"download the new flash player"
IE is new and has flash already installed. I can see the video (It doesn't prompt an update) it just skips constantly while downloading. On a side note if I use the 64 bit version of IE no video works at all due to flash not supporting it.

it don't think IE is any more secure. what do you mean by security anyway? firefox can be equipped with 100 different add-ons to make it more "secure."

Ahh... the simple "Person 1: My knee hurts when I touch it... Person 2: Well then, don't touch it" answer

lol
Like I said, I havn't tried out my sisters computer, but it is annoying when it is such a new laptop and it can't play youtube without being choppy and my 8 year old 600 dollar computer from "The Wiz" can play youtube smoothly.

That's an understatement :p
For example, use IE, then use Firefox. Now tell me which one has less popups.

Try firefox and chrome. See if those help.

Yep, I just checked my sisters laptop... it has so much crapware on it (damn you dell) but, it said there was a new video driver (dell support center). I checked youtube.com in chrome and IE.

IE was choppy.
Chrome was perfect.

I just restarted because I installed new video drivers...
I think she's running SP1... Dear, god I gotta totally redo this system. lol.

I'll run all windows updates. Then I'll see if it's choppy... then I'll upgrade flash.
